Jennifer Lawrence introduced herself to critics and indie audiences when she won an Oscar nomination for her role in the acclaimed 2010 drama Winter’s Bone, but it took the rest of America a little longer to learn her name: That red Calvin Klein dress she wore to the Oscars helped a little, and then getting cast as Katniss Everdeen in the massively popular Hunger Games franchise did the rest. The first movie in the series grossed half a billion worldwide and cemented Lawrence’s ability to anchor both popcorn flicks and art house fare (and to imbue each with her strengths in the other), a dual talent that results in a high overall studio value. UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Jennifer Lawrence isn’t hungry for a Golden Popcorn anymore. At Sunday night’s 2012 MTV Movie Awards, Lawrence was on hand to accept her hardware for Best Female Performance for her fierce take on “Hunger Games” heroine Katniss Everdeen.
The competition in the coveted category was stiff. In her first-ever Movie Awards win, Lawrence beat out heavyweights like Kristen Wiig (“Bridesmaids”), MTV Trailblazer Emma Stone (“Crazy, Stupid, Love”), Emma Watson (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2″) and Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”). Several news sources are reporting that Jennifer and Kristen Stewart are interested in being cast as the female lead in the upcoming film “Lie Down in Darkness”, based on the 1951 novel by William Styron. Both of them talk in interviews about wanting to be part of the film.
Jennifer recently told W Magazine:
“I am obsessed with that part. I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play … If someone else gets the part, I’m afraid they won’t do it right, I’m trying to write the director … to convince him that I should be in his movie. I’ll chase him if I have to. I’ll sit outside his house.”
Kristen told Elle Magazine:
“I want to play Peyton more than anything I can possible taste or touch in my life. I want to play her so bad.”
Keep in mind both girls only expressed interest in the film, nothing is officially confirmed about their possible attachement.
Jennifer and her boyfriend Nicholas attended the Amber Lounge Fashion Monaco show in Monaco earlier today. We added the first released photos in our gallery. She looks stunning in a little black dress.
